CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The La Salle Baseball team (0-11) fell twice on Sunday, first to Niagara (6-4) and then to No. 10 Virginia (11-1).
The Explorers were blanked in the first game. Five batter reached base, including Kevin McGowen who chalked up a single to right in the top of the fourth.
Austin Constantini and
Sebastian Martinez combined to throw 4.2 innings in relief, surrendering juts one earned run apiece.Starting pitcher
C.J. Pruitt struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings.
In game two, La Salle put two on the board as early as the second inning when
Zach Wright scored on a throwing error and later in the inning Constantini drove in
Yan Carlo Rivera. Constantini crossed the plate himself in the seventh when
Brian Tagoe drove him home on a single. Both he and
Niko Jenkins finished 2-for-4 in the game.
The Blue and Gold have a fairly quick turnaround as they travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina, to play both Wofford and South Carolina Upstate in a series of five games over six days. They begin with Wofford on Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
