Deland, Fl.- A hat trick from senior
Courtney Woolford put La Salle on the board within the first seven minutes of play in the Explorers game against Stetson on Monday, Mar 6 at ATC Stadium. The Explorers edged the Hatters their first away game of the 2017 campaign in a 20-18 contest.
Toni Massetti also added three goals against the Hatters in the first half of the game, along with two from
Brittany Edwards and one each from Allee Ilgenfrtiz and
Nicole Black to put La Salle up 10-7 at the half.
The Explorers maintained the lead throughout the second half, thanks to four additional goals from Ilgenfritz and two from Black. Woolford and Edwards each added another goal apiece in the second stanza.
Massetti secured the Explorers win when she sent a shot past Hatter's goalkeeper Liza Diamond as the clock wound down.Â
Anna Gordon won four draws to lead the Explorers on the day, while Edwards ranked second on the team with three. Shoults also caused a team high two turnovers in addition to picking up three ground balls.
In goal,
Lynne Frankel picked up a team-high six ground balls and tallied 10 saves in her 60 minutes in the net.
The team is now split 2-2 on the season. La Salle will continue the semester break in Deland Fl., facing Campbell on Friday, March 10 at 12:00 PM.
