SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The La Salle (2-12) offense exploded for a season-high eight runs and
Luke Reilly was a stud on the mound in an 8-1 win over USC Upstate (7-9) on Thursday evening. The game had originally been scheduled for Sunday but was moved up due to rain in the forecast.
Overall, we had good senior leadership on the mound and we put the ball in play really well today," said manager
Mike Lake.
Reilly (1-1) lasted eight innings striking out six, walking one, and allowing five hits in the win. He held the Spartans hitless until the bottom of the fourth inning.
Michael Flax struck out two in a scoreless inning of relief.
"Luke came out and gave us some big time leadership. He threw eight strong innings," said Lake after the game. "Then
Michael Flax came in and was strong too."
Ben Faso and
Rafael Amanau each hit home runs in the game, marking the Explorers' first multi-homer game of the season. Faso's was a two-run home run.
Amanau finished 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI's.

Zach Wright, and
Kevin McGowan each had two hits.
La Salle plays the rubber match against USC Upstate on Friday at 4:00 PM. They will then play Wofford on Saturday before returning home for their home opener on Tuesday against Villanova.
