FARMVILLE, Va. - Four of the five starters for the La Salle men's golf team improved from the first round to the second on the opening day of the Manor Intercollegiate, hosted by Longwood, on Saturday.
Leading the way was senior
P.J. Acierno, who shot a one-under par 71 to make a six-stroke jump from his first-round score.
Acierno's second-round scorecard tied for the third best in the field, and he is tied for 24th individually at 148.
Sophomore
Nick Gruber made the largest improvement on the team, shooting 77 to take seven strokes off his total from round one.Â
Also making a jump was sophomore
Andrew Reynolds, who shot a second-round 76, and freshman
Evan Gaesser who improved by four strokes (84 to 80).
Sophomore
Nick Geiman shot an opening-round 77 and is tied for 68th at 158.
As a team, the Explorers carded a 304 for their second-round score, a 13-stroke improvement from round one, and stand in 14th place.
The second and final day of the Manor Intercollegiate will take place on Sunday, April 2.Â
