CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The La Salle University men's rowing team traveled south for a pair of races on the first of April, and earned a clean sweep in both the men's varsity four and men's varsity eight on Saturday.
The varsity eight boat, comprised of junior Grant Maddock, sophomore stroke Scott Dunn, junior Kieran Hughes, junior Josh Brooks, sophomore Bob Noga, junior Mike Gormley, freshman Nathan Durso, junior Josh Adams, and junior bow Waleed Omar, soundly defeated teams from Washington College and St. Mary's (Md.).
The Explorers crossed the finish line in 7:48.62, nearly 10 seconds faster than the Shoremen and over 15 seconds ahead of the Seahawks.
In the other race of the day, the varsity four team of freshman Quoc Tran, Dunn, Hughes, Brooks and Noga kept momentum going from its impressive finals appearance at last weekend's Murphy Cup. The fivesome raced to a time of 8:06.12, over a full minute in front of Washington College's team.
La Salle continues its spring season next weekend on the Schkuyll River with a matchup against Iona College.
