PHILADELPHIA- Despite a five goal performance from senior
Allee Ilgenfritz, the La Salle lacrosse team dropped an Atlantic 10 contest against UMass on Thursday, April 13. The Explorers succumbed to the hot-shooting Minutewomen 25-10 at McCarthy Stadium.
The Explorers battled with the Minutewomen to a 7-7 knot at 11:51 in the first half, before the Minutewomen scored three straight to take the lead.
Despite a pair of goals from Ilgenfritz and two from
Toni Massetti, UMass proved unstoppable as the Explorers slipped to 2-3 in conference play.
Nicole Black led La Salle with three assists, while netting one goal for the Blue and Gold.
Anna Gordon and
Brittany Edwards also added a goal each.
Emily Martin caused three turnovers and picked up two ground balls to lead La Salle defensively.
Ashley Blanton picked up a season high four ground balls and won three draws on the day.
Defender
Kiara Lynch ranked second on the team with two won draws against the Minutewomen.
In goal,
Lucy Loughlin picked up three ground balls and made 13 saves in her 51 minutes in play.
The Explorers will resume play on Saturday, April 15 at Saint Joseph's. Draw is slated for 1:00 PM at Sweeney Field.
