Explorers Fall to UMass

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle baseball team was defeated by UMass in an Atlantic 10 game Friday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field, 6-2.

The Explorers managed eight hits by six different batters in the contest. Rafael Amanau was 2-for-4 with a double while Brett Simon was 2-for-2 with a run scored.

In the third inning, Austin Constantini singled to score Niko Jenkins for La Salle's first run of the game. The Blue and Gold scored again in the eighth when Ben Faso's sac fly advanced Simon.

Michael Flax drew the start for La Salle and struck out three over 4.1 innings.

Ray Jackson and Blake James combined to throw 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

The Explorers continue their series with UMass on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
