PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle track and field team wrapped up its competition at the 123rd Penn Relays on Sunday, April 29. The Explorers competed in two events to wrap up a successful weekend.
Leading La Salle in the competition was Morgan Szekely, who ran in the women's Olympic Development mile event. Szekley clocked a time of 4:54.61 for 14th place out of 16 runners.
The men's 4x800m relay team also represented La Salle on the final day of the Relays. The squad crossed the line in a cumulative time of 7:41.64 for 27th of 41 teams in the field. The individual runners were broken down as follows: Joseph Leconey (1:57.67), Stephen Lewandowski (1:55.02), Chris Trimble (1:57.65), and Anthony Hawthorne (1:51.31).
La Salle will return to the track next weekend, when the team heads to the Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championships at UMass. Racing will begin on Saturday, May 6 and conclude Sunday, May 7 at the UMass Track and Field Complex in Amherst, Mass.
