PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Baseball team was defeated by George Washington at Hank DeVincent Field on Friday, 3-1.
Starting pitcher
Matt Holt (2-2) went 6.1 innings, allowing just on earned run. He struck out three.
The Explorers' lone run of the game came off the bat of
Yan Carlo Rivera when the shortstop singled to score
Rafael Amanau in the fourth inning. The run tied the game at one but wouldn't last long-- the Colonials took the lead in the next stanza on a run-scoring bunt. George Washington scored an insurance run three innings later.
Rivera finished 2-for-4 with the RBI.
Kevin McGowan, who led the team in batting average against Atlantic 10 teams heading into the game, went 3-for-4 in the contest.
La Salle is scheduled to play George Washington again on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
