PHILADELPHIA - A pair of La Salle baseball players were recognized by the Big 5 following a week in which the Explorers took two of three on the road from St. Joseph's.
Kevin McGowan was named Big 5 Player of the Week while
Luke Reilly was honored with Co-Pitcher of the Week.
McGowan, a second baseman and DH, helped spark La Salle's offense last week with a .438 batting average in 16 at bats. McGowan had two three-hit performances last week, capped off with a 3-for-4 day in a win over Big 5 and Atlantic 10 opponent St. Joseph's. The sophomore also hit a home run and had two runs and two RBI's in a three-hit game against Lafayette in a mid-week game. He's batting .253 with two home runs this season.
Reilly picked up the win in a complete game over the Hawks last weekend. The graduate student struck out seven and allowed just one run in the win.Reilly was also named to the same honor in February. Reilly is 2-5 with a 3.63 ERA this season.
The team will be hosting George Washington this weekend, beginning on Friday at 3:00 PM.
