Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Offense Lifts La Salle at Temple, 2-0

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (1-0-1) scored twice in the final 7:03 to earn a 2-0 victory over Temple (1-1-0) on Sunday afternoon at the Temple Sports Complex.

Kristin Haugstad broke the scoreless tie with 7:03 remaining in the game, beating Temple keeper Jordan Nash inside the near post. Nash came out to try to cut off Haugstad, who was charging towards the goal on a breakaway.

La Salle was able to prevent Temple from gaining any great scoring chances in the final minutes as the Owls pushed for an equalizer. Madison Bower put the game out of contention with a goal with 21 seconds left in the game, finding the back of the net for the second time this the season after a pass through the middle from Danielle Marx.

"I told the girls how resilient that was," said head coach Paul Royal. "Just to stay focused, to have the composure from both Kristen and Mad late in the game is huge for us."

La Salle outshot the Owls 9-7 for the afternoon but Temple controlled corner kicks 6-3. The Owls put two shots on goal against La Salle keeper Larisa Zambelli, who made both saves.

The Explorers are back in action this week on Thursday when they host Iona at McCarthy Stadium at 6 PM. La Salle will also visit Penn next weekend with a Sunday evening match against the Quakers at Rhodes Field.
