Box Score VILLANOVA, Pa. – The La Salle women's soccer team improved to 5-1-1 with a 1-0 defeat of Villanova (3-4) on Sunday afternoon at the Higgins Sports Complex.
Maci Bower used an assist from
Amirah Louketis to score the game-winning goal in the 76
th minute. The goal was Bower's third of the season, tying her with
Kristin Haugstad for the team lead, and the first career assist for Louketis.
The Explorers recorded their fifth shutout of the season, and second straight after blanking Fairleigh Dicksinson last Sunday. Keeper
Larisa Zambelli tallied four saves against eight shots faced to lower her goals-against average to 0.58.
La Salle fired nine shots on the afternoon against Villanova keeper Emily Harris, who recorded two saves. Both teams took five corners in the game.
The Explorers enter a tournament at Princeton next weekend where they'll play Delaware on Friday night before a Sunday matchup with No. 3 West Virginia.
