Men's Soccer Blanks Penn, 3-0

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team (3-4) won its third straight match on Wednesday night, defeating Penn (1-5) in a Soccer 6 match on the turf of McCarthy Stadium. Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Tobin continued his strong play with four saves in a shutout. The shutout was his second of the last three matches.

Mike Liska scored the first goal of the match, a match that La Salle dominate in mostly all facets of. Liska lit the lamp in the match's 12th minute for his second goal of the season. Zach Rutherford and Johnny Ciarlante had the assists, giving both of them two for the season.

Matt Robinson scored again to put La Salle up 2-0 just about ten minutes later. Robinson connected on a rebound off of a block by a Penn defender in front of the net. The redshirt senior now has a team-high four goals this season.

Soji Olatoye, a standout freshman, tacked on La Salle's third goal in the second half. Olatoye made a nice move around a defender and then bent the shot perfect into the back of the net. The goal was his third of the season.

La Salle had seven shots on goal to Penn's four.

Head coach Rob Irvine and company see the field next on Saturday when they host Hartwick at 7:00 for another home match.
