PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team won its fourth straight match on Saturday night with a 2-1 win over Hartwick at McCarthy Stadium. Senior midfielder
Johnny Ciarlante scored on a cross with just over two minutes to go for the decisive goal.
Ciarlante was fed by
Hayden Criollo and
Zach Rutherford. Rutherford forced his way past a defender and sent a perfect pass to Criollo who tipped it to Ciarlante for the score.
Earlier in the game,
Mathias Patino scored just nine minutes into the contest off of a rebound in front of the net that goalie to give La Salle a 1-0 lead. The Explorers held that lead until the 51 minute mark when Hartwick's leading scorer Jamie O'Grady slipped a goal past starting goalkeeper
Mark Tobin to equalize.
The Blue and Gold had one of its most impressive offensive games of the season, out-shooting Hartwick 18-9.
Tobin, a sophomore, made two saves and earned his fourth win of the season.
The Explorers play again at McCarthy Stadium, where they have a 4-1 record this season, on Wednesday at 7 when they host LIU Brooklyn.
