WASHINGTON, Pa. - La Salle men's water polo picked up its first win of the season in a 12-7 defeat of Mid Atlantic Water Polo Conference opponent McKendree. In addition, the Explorers played MAWPC opponent Mercyhurst and fell 16-8.
In the win, freshman
Daniel Domotor led the team with five goals. He also drew three kickouts and had two steals. The Explorers led 3-2 going into the half and 7-6 going into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, their offense really started to click with five goals to put the game away. Sophomore
Jeff Brady added two goals and four helpers. Freshman
Karl Miller had his first multi-goal game with two scores and also two steals.
Cole Strohson also had two goals and two steals. Sophomore
Jacob Camacho scored his second goal of the season as well.
Derek DeFusco added three kickouts drawn and two steals.
In the latter game, La Salle fell to an early 10-3 deficit. In goal,
Owain Llewellyn had seven saves, three steals, and two assists.
Ash Lyne, a freshman, had three goals on three shots. Domotor was limited to just one goal by the aggressive Mercyhurst defense. Brady and DeFusco each scored two goals in the game.
The Explorers wrap up their MAWPC weekend with games against Salem International and Monmouth on Sunday.
