CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The La Salle women's basketball team (5-11) dropped a 70-61 decision at Harvard (8-6) on Wednesday afternoon in nonconference action at Lavietes Pavilion.
Sofilia Ngwafang matched her career-high with 18 points in 21 minutes off the bench, going 9-for-12 from the floor while grabbing a game-high seven rebounds.
Amy Griffin added 15 points and
Adreana Miller finished with 10.
La Salle jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game before the Crimson roared back with 16 unanswered points. Harvard controlled the rest of the 1
st quarter and held a 23-10 lead after 10 minutes of play.
The Explorers responded in the 2
nd quarter with an 11-2 run to chip the Harvard lead to 26-21, but the Crimson were able to stretch the lead back to 12 before the half. La Salle eventually scored six straight points spanning the 3
rd and 4
th quarters to get within seven points but couldn't make it a two-possession game.
Griffin also dished out a team-high four assists and picked up three steals.
Ashanti Freeland chipped in eight points and six rebounds.
Harvard's Jeannie Boehm led all scorers with 19 points while Sydney Skinner finished with 16. Madeline Raster added 14 and Katie Benzan finished with 10 points as four players finished in double figures for the Crimson.
The Explorers return to Atlantic 10 play on Saturday as they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff from Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center is set for 1 p.m.
