Edwards Caps Furious Rally with Game-Winning Three in Win Over St. Bonaventure

PHILADELPHIA Shaquana Edwards hit the game-winning three with 57 seconds left to complete a furious La Salle rally as the Explorers (6-11, 1-3 A-10) topped St. Bonaventure (6-12, 1-4) 66-63 on Saturday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.

La Salle trailed 61-52 with 3:49 left in the game before a pair of Amy Griffin free throws sparked a 14-2 Explorer run over the final 3:17. Adreana Miller's layup tied the game at 61-61 with 1:31 to play.

SBU's Jalisha Terry responded with a layup to give the Bonnies a two-point advantage before Edwards hit a three from the corner to give La Salle a 64-63 lead. The Bonnies were unable to score on their next possession and were forced to foul with 10.4 seconds left.

Adreana Miller hit two free throws to make it 66-63, and a contested three by Mariah Ruff fell short in the final seconds to seal the victory for the Explorers. Miller finished with 15 points and seven rebounds while Edwards paced La Salle with 17 points and three steals.

Griffin and Shalina Miller both had 13 points as part of La Salle's balanced scoring attack. Miller pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and Griffin dished out a game-high five assists to match five rebounds.

La Salle was an efficient 26-for-58 (44.8%) from the field and held a 41-33 edge on the glass. Ashanti Freeland was a big part of that advantage with eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

The Explorers are on the road for a pair of games next week, beginning with a midweek trip to Pittsburgh. La Salle tips at Duquense Wednesday night before a trip to Rhode Island on Saturday.
