PITTSBURGH – The La Salle women's basketball team (6-12, 1-4 A-10) fell to Duquesne (15-3, 5-0 A-10) on Wednesday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Adreana Miller poured in a season-high 25 points but was the only Explorer to finish in double figures.
Shalina Miller chipped in nine points and five rebounds while
Shaquana Edwards finished with seven points and four assists.
La Salle jumped out to a 7-2 lead to start the game before the Dukes caught fire and closed the 1
st quarter on an 18-2 run. The Explorers kept Duquesne honest during the 2
nd quarter but the Dukes pulled away after the break.
Junior Chassidy Omogrosso paced the Dukes with 23 points, going 9-for-14 from the field and 4-for-5 from three-point range. Fellow junior Julijana Vojinovic wasn't far behind with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The Dukes were extremely efficient, shooting 51.7% (30-for-58) from the floor and 47.6% (10-for-21) from three-point range. Duquesne's bench outscored La Salle's 19-1 and the Dukes tallied 25 points off turnovers.
The Explorers remain on the road this weekend as they visit the Rhode Island Rams on Saturday for an 11 a.m. tip. The game will be televised on CBSSN.
