PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (7-14, 2-6 A-10) dropped a 75-64 decision to Saint Joseph's (10-10, 5-3 A-10) on Sunday afternoon at TruMark Financial Center at Tom Gola Arena.
Adreana Miller led the Explorers in scoring with 19 points while
Amy Griffin and
Shaquana Edwards finished in double figures with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
The two teams traded blows early before Saint Joseph's started to pull away by closing the first half on a 13-4 run. After taking an eight-point lead into the break, the Hawks pushed the game out of reach by outscoring the Explorers 30-13 in the 3
rd quarter.
Saint Joseph's was powered by double-doubles from Adashia Franklyn and Amanda Fioravanti. Franklyn had 19 points and 15 rebounds while Fioravanti posted 15 points and 13 boards. Alyssa Monaghan and Sarah Veilleux added 13 points apiece.
The Hawks held a 39-25 advantage in the rebounding column and outscored La Salle 54-26 in the paint.
The Explorers are on the road for both games next week, beginning with a matchup at George Washington on Thursday night. The Explorers then head north for a Sunday showdown at UMass.
