Field Hockey Preps for Busy Home Weekend at DeVincent Field, Beginning Friday

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University field hockey team is scheduled to host a pair of Atlantic 10 foes at Hank DeVincent Field this weekend. The Explorers (5-7, 0-3 A-10) will square off against Richmond (4-9, 1-2 A-10) on Friday afternoon, beginning at 3:00 p.m., before a Sunday matinee against VCU (7-5, 4-0 A-10) that is set for 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle dropped a hard-fought overtime contest to Holy Cross this past Sunday, rallying from a two-goal deficit in the second half before ultimately falling, 5-4.
  • Junior Amanda Chapin had two goals and an assist against the Crusaders and has three goals and four assists over her last three contests.
  • Chapin was recently named PhilaFH Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts vs. Holy Cross.
  • The Explorers have registered 33 goals through 12 contests this year, already eclipsing their season total in goals from the prior three seasons.
  • Senior Logan Oh currently paces La Salle with six assists and 16 points, and is currently tied for fourth in the A-10 in the assist category.
  • Sophomore Rialee Allen leads the team with six goals, one ahead of her total from last season.
SCOUTING RICHMOND
  • The Spiders split a pair of games last weekend, falling 2-0 to A-10 foe Massachusetts before a 3-1 victory over Towson on Sunday.
  • Elise Zwicklbauer has four goals and four assists, and leads the team with 12 points. 
  • Freshman Steffie Bongers had two goals in the victory over the Tigers and has a team-best five on the year.
  • Richmond was picked to finish third in the Atlantic 10 in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
SCOUTING VCU
  • One of two undefeated teams in the Atlantic 10 (Saint Joseph's), the Rams enter Friday's showdown with the nationally-ranked Hawks at 4-0 against league foes.
  • VCU split a pair of games last week, falling in overtime to Rider before picking up a 2-0 win over UMass.
  • The highlight for the Rams this season came on Sept. 23, when the team defeated No. 11 Old Dominion, the first win over a ranked opponent since 2009.
  • Senior Emily McNamara has 19 goals to pace the A-10, and she currently ranks first among all NCAA Division I players in goals per game (1.58).
