Joey DeFusco scored a team-high three goals while sophomore
Cole Strohson had a pair for the La Salle University men's water polo team, who dropped an 18-9 decision to Fordham on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an exclusion was called on the Explorers, Fordham took an early 1-0 lead after Jake Miller-Tolt found the back of the net.
- The Rams scored twice more to take a 3-0 advantage before DeFusco scored off a feed from sophomore Daniel Domotor to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- Karl Miller continued the charge by the Explorers, putting the score at 3-2 before Fordham scored three straight times to close the period.
- The second frame saw DeFusco and Miller team up for a La Salle goal, bringing the Explorers to within 6-3.
- Three more goals from Fordham pushed its lead to six before Strohson registered a goal right before half.
- In the second half, Fordham began to pull away, outscoring La Salle by a 6-2 margin in the third quarter.
- The fourth quarter was a deadlock, as the Explorers received goals from Domotor, DeFusco and freshman Esteban Rodriguez.
