Women’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker to George Mason on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University women's soccer team (8-7-1, 3-6 A-10) dropped a heartbreaker Thursday night to George Mason (12-5, 7-2 A-10), 1-0. Before the game, the Explorers honored their five seniors.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first half was a complete defensive match, seeing just one shot on goal collectively.
  • Things heated up in the second half with both teams creating more offensive opportunities. Sophomore keeper Claudia Jenkins made multiple diving saves to keep the Explorers in the game as long as she could.
  • During the 84th minute, the Patriots were able to squeak one past Jenkins to claim the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Jenkins finished with four saves on the night, allowing the lone goal.
  • Collectively, the La Salle defense held Emma van der Vorst, the A-10 leader in points and goals, to just four shots with none on net.
