Sharrits, Wood Chase Milestones as Volleyball Hosts Colonials and Patriots this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – When the La Salle University volleyball team takes the court this weekend at Tom Gola Arena, senior Jensen Sharrits and junior Kathryn Wood will be going after major career milestones, as the Explorers will host George Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. and then will welcome George Mason on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
CHASING GREATNESS
  • Sharrits enters the weekend just 12 digs shy of 2,000 for her career with 1,988 thus far over her four seasons with the Explorers. She is also closing in on the school record of 2,080 held by Carolyn Judge.
  • Wood needs only 23 assists to reach the 3,000 plateau for her career, compiling 2,977 helpers so far in just her third season.
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Explorers closed out their non-conference schedule with a 3-1 win over Delaware State on Tuesday.
  • La Salle jumped out to a 2-0 lead and used a .350 hitting percentage to roll past the Hornets, improving to 12-9 overall.
  • Wood notched 48 assists, four service aces and four kills to lead the way for La Salle.
  • Junior Devin Corah had a match-high 16 kills, while senior Madison Kuch, sophomore Samantha Graver and junior Catherine Edgington all recorded double-digit kills.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
  • George Washington enters the weekend on a four-match losing streak, falling to VCU on Sunday, 3-1.
  • The Colonials own an 8-11 overall mark and are 2-5 in the Atlantic 10. George Washington has struggled on the road, going 1-5 in away matches.
  • Skylar Iott leads the team with 3.67 kills per set, while Jaimeson Lee hands out 9.22 assists per set.
  • Bella Bowman puts up 4.42 digs per set, and Kelsey Clark and Jordan Young average 2.23 and 2.21 kills per frame, respectively.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
  • Coming into the weekend, the Patriots hold a 6-11, 4-3 A-10 record and have lost their last two matches.
  • George Mason will play at Rhode Island on Friday at 7 p.m.
  • The Patriots offense consists of three player that have registered over 100 kills this season. Peyton Ehmke (153), Bailey Williams (144), and ShaLi Niu (119) are the team's top three attackers.
  • Emily Honchan is the team's setter, dishing out 573 assists on the season and 8.82 per set.
