Cotterell, Werner Take Charge as Explorers and Colonials Battle to 1-1 Draw

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman Omari Cotterell tallied his first collegiate goal, as the La Salle University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw on the road against the George Washington Colonials in Atlantic 10 Conference action on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The match looked as if it were heading into halftime with no score, but Cotterell had other ideas. Freshman Daniel McIntosh and senior Hayden Criollo worked the ball to Cotterell in the 43rd minute to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead going into the break.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Brett Werner kept the Colonials off the board until the 79th minute when Alexy Boehm evened the score at one.
  • La Salle found two shots in the first overtime, but couldn't find any opportunities in the second overtime.
  • Werner made four saves in extra time to preserve the 1-1 tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Making his second appearance of the season, both coming as starts, Werner exceeded his previous save total by making 10 stops on the day. Over his two games, he has a .875 save percentage.
