Pair of Road A-10 Matches On Docket for Field Hockey This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University field hockey team will conclude its 2018 season with a pair of Atlantic 10 contests this weekend. The Explorers will square off against nationally-ranked Saint Joseph's on Friday afternoon, before traveling to Lock Haven on Sunday.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle (8-8, 2-4 A-10) took a 2-1 decision from Rider in its final home game of the year this past Tuesday.
  • Junior Lauren Lechleitner scored just after halftime to give the Explorers a 2-0 lead.
  • The Broncs, who entered the game having won six straight, pulled to within one later in the period but the home team held on to finish its season at Hank DeVincent Field with a 7-3 record.
  • Senior Mackenzie Karcher scored the first goal of the game for the Explorers, and leads La Salle with seven goals.
  • Classmate Logan Oh has a team-best eight assists and is also tops on the squad with eight assists.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Emelynn Sneary made five saves against Rider and has earned the victory in three of her last four appearances. 
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Hawks enter Friday's game having won 10 straight games and currently stand No. 12 in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll.
  • Overall, SJU is 14-2 on the year and is 7-0 in Atlantic 10 play.
  • During their 10-game winning streak, the Hawks have outscored opponents by an impressive 45-4 margin.
  • Tonya Botherway has a team-high 17 goals and 43 points while Anna Willocks has 13 goals on the year.
SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
  • Entering its game against Monmouth on Friday, Lock Haven is 8-8 overall and 2-5 in league play.
  • Most recently, the Bald Eagles were swept by Richmond and VCU last weekend.
  • Alyscia Smith has totaled 12 goals and six assists this year.
