PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University volleyball team (10-7, 3-1 A-10) will remain at home this weekend to host a couple of Atlantic 10 matches after going undefeated in conference play on the road last week. The Explorers will first face off against Saint Louis (2-14, 1-3 A-10) on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Dayton (12-5, 3-1 A-10) on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 p.m.
ABOUT LA SALLE
- Senior libero Jensen Sharrits continues to occupy first place in the A-10 in digs (350) and digs/set (5.74).
- Junior Kathryn Wood remains at the top of the league in assists/set (11.21) for the third straight week.
- The Explorers recorded a perfect record last weekend after topping Rhode Island, 3-0, in their second straight conference sweep and defeating Fordham, 3-1.
- Both Junior Catherine Edgington and freshman Elizabeth Osborn reached season highs in blocks against Rhode Island. Edgington registered eight and Osborn had five.
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
- The Billikens defeated Davidson, 3-1, last weekend but were swept by VCU, 0-3.
- Sophomore Maya Taylor currently ranks second in the league in kills (233) and kills/set (4.16).
- Taylor and freshman libero Cayce Chaykowsky were named Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week and co-Rookie of the Week, respectively.
SCOUTING DAYTON
- Senior Lauren Bruns currently leads the A-10 in kills (296) and kills/set (4.35).
- The Flyers are 3-1 in conference play after losing to VCU, 1-3, at home last week.
- Sophomores Brooke Westbeld and Bridget Doherty tallied double-doubles in Dayton's fall to VCU. Westbeld had 12 kills and 25 assists while Doherty logged 17 assists and 10 digs.
