LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Dragon Theam is tied for second after one round at the Bucknell Fall Invitational, shooting three under par to set a new freshman record for a single round. La Salle as a team sits tied for 8
th, shooting the program's best score since the 2016-17 A-10 Championship.
COACH SAYS:
- "Dragon hit it great today," said head coach Scott Yurgalevicz. "This is a great course for him as he's a shot maker and not a bomber, so he was able to dissect the course and shoot a smooth 67."
- "Ron Fischang was a grinder today as well shooting 73 while only hitting two greens in regulation. He was 13 for 16 on up and downs today which is absolutely unreal. In reality, this team still hasn't even clicked on all cylinders yet, and it's going to be scary when we do."
LA SALLE SCORECARD:
- Theam paces the Explorers, nailing four birdies on the par 70 course.
- Sophomore Ron Fischang sits just three over, carding a 73 in round one to place himself tied for 35th.
- After shooting +1 in the front nine, freshman Matthew Werner hit +4 in the back nine for a total score of +5. Werner hit two birdies on the day.
- Sophomore David Kim holds the four spot on the La Salle scorecard, shooting a 76 for the round.
- Rounding out the team's scores, is freshman Parker Wine. Wine, who saw his first collegiate action today, carded a 79 after the first round.
- Sophomore Zaffar Sikkander played as an independent and had himself a decent first round. The Nawala, Sri Lanka native shot a 76, including three birdies.
