MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Freshman Shayla Sweeney paced the La Salle University women's basketball team (0-2) with a career high 11 points Sunday afternoon as the Explorers fell to Robert Morris (1-1), 67-39.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After Robert Morris took a lead early in the 1^st quarter, the Explorers responded nearly trading points of the final 4:21. The Colonials took a 21-11 lead into the second.
• RMU expanded its lead in the second stanza, however La Salle finished strong on a 7-2 run over the final 3:25 to close the deficit, 35-23.
• The Explorers held the Colonials scoreless through the first five minutes of the third frame, taking a 2-0 run over that span. Robert Morris took a run of its own after that, closing the quarter on top.
• Sophomore Rayshel Brown led the Explorers in the fourth quarter as she scored four of La Salle's 12 points in the final frame.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sweeney ended the day shooting 8-of-10 from the charity stripe, converting one three pointer for her 11 points.
• Junior Shalina Miller led the team with eight rebounds, while senior Jeryn Reese collected seven.

UP NEXT:
The Explorers return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Harvard for a non-conference bout against the Crimson. Tipoff is schedule for 7 p.m. with the game being broadcast on ESPN+.
