CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The La Salle women's basketball team (0-3) battled in the second half against Harvard (1-2), but fell to the Crimson, 88-43, on Wednesday night in Massachusetts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After sophomore Michelle Nicholls scored the first basket of the game to put the Explorers up, the Crimson went off on a run to capture the first quarter.
- La Salle more than doubled its point total in the second frame in part to a 5-0 run that featured a three pointer from senior Jeryn Reese and a pair for sophomore Deja King at the foul line. Defensively, La Salle held the Crimson to just 11 points.
- Again, the Explorers more than doubled their point total in the third quarter, dropping 16 points. Sophomore Rayshel Brown scored eight points for La Salle as the team went 7-of-14 in the quarter.
- Freshman Kayla Spruill started the final stanza scoring seven of the first nine points for La Salle as the squad went a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- After a tough first half of shooting, La Salle responded with a 39.3% second half shooting effort, including a 50% swing in the third quarter.
- Brown finished with 10 points, tying her season high set against Howard, while Spruill (9) and Reese (8) notched career marks in points.
