PHILADELPHIA– The La Salle University volleyball team will take its six-match winning streak on the road this weekend, as the Explorers close out the regular season. La Salle will visit Dayton on Friday at 7 p.m. before traveling to Saint Louis for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
WOOD MAKES IT BACK-TO-BACK
- Junior setter Kathryn Wood was named Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week on Monday following her performance in La Salle's win over Duquesne.
- It was the second consecutive A-10 Player of the Week award for La Salle, as junior Devin Corah took the honor the week prior.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Explorers swept Duquesne in their home finale last Friday to keep the win streak alive and notch their 17th win while moving to 9-3 in the A-10.
- It was the team's first victory over Duquesne since the 1999 season.
- Wood orchestrated the La Salle offensive attack with 37 assists, five digs and three service aces.
- Corah posted a match-high 14 kills on a .619 hitting percentage to go with three blocks, while senior Madison Kuch added 10 kills.
- Junior Catherine Edgington, sophomore Reilly Lowe and freshman Elizabeth Osborn combined for 23 kills and 10 blocks as well.
SCOUTING DAYTON
- Dayton has been tough to beat on their home floor this season, holding an 11-2 home record.
- The Flyers enter the weekend at 19-7 overall and are second in the A-10 with a 10-2 mark in league play. Dayton has won its last two matches, sweeping Davidson before downing Saint Louis, 3-1, last week.
- In their meeting at Tom Gola Arena on Oct. 6, the Flyers defeated the Explorers, 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-21). La Salle has lost just one match since.
- Lauren Bruns leads the A-10 with 4.37 kills per set, while Alli Papesh, Kendyll Brown and Brooke Westbeld all average more than 2.00 kills per frame.
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
- Saint Louis sits at 5-19 overall and 4-8 in the A-10, while owning a 3-8 record at home. The Billikens dropped to Dayton, 3-1, the last time out.
- La Salle defeated Saint Louis, 3-1, on Oct. 5 at Tom Gola Arena. Corah and Osborn combined for 33 kills for the Explorers.
- Maya Taylor is second in the A-10 with 4.05 kills per set. Giovanna Charles adds 2.56 kills per frame, and Kennedy Cordia averages 9.52 assists a set.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Senior libero Jensen Sharrits enters the weekend with 2,074 career digs. She needs only seven more to surpass the school record of 2,080 held by Carolyn Judge.
- Corah reached the 1,000 kills plateau for her career in the win over Duquesne, while Wood (3,000 assists) and Sharrits (2,000 digs) achieved their major milestones last month.
