PHILADELPHIA - Freshman
Jack Clark scored a team-high 21 points in his second collegiate game and classmate
Ed Croswell recorded the first double-double of his career with 11 points and 14 rebounds in a 92-79 loss to Bucknell on Tuesday evening at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center. Sophomore
Miles Brookins also posted a career high with 19 points and his classmate, guard
Jamir Moultrie, matched his career best with 19 for the Explorers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bison (4-3) jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before La Salle (0-9) responded with six points of its own, including four by Clark, to knot the score at the 15:11 mark of the first half.
- Following a free throw from Clark, the two teams combined for just four points over the next 3:31.
- A dunk from Bruce Moore briefly gave Bucknell a two-point cushion before Clark knocked down a three and sophomore Jamir Moultrie canned a jumper to put the score at 13-10 just past the midway point of the period.
- Bucknell replied with a 7-0 spurt, capped by a three-pointer from Avi Toomer to give the visitors a 17-13 advantage.
- La Salle struggled offensively in the opening half, shooting 25.7 percent from the floor as the entered the break trailing 40-34.
- Clark was the lone bright spot, hitting three of his four three-point attempts en route to 12 points in the period.
- A 14-3 run to begin the second stanza bolstered the Bucknell lead to 54-37 with 14:27 remaining.
- The margin grew to as wide as 64-44 with 11:33 on the clock before La Salle made one final push.
- Consecutive three-pointers in a 22-second span from Moultrie, who matched a career high with 19 points, brought the Explorers to within 64-50.
- Croswell followed up a miss on the fastbreak with a tip-in to bring La Salle to within single digits with plenty of time to play at the 7:48 mark.
- That is as close as the game would get, however, as the Bison used a hot shooting night to hold off the final push.
