Deja King led the team with 13 points as La Salle women's basketball (0-8, 0-2 Big 5) fell to the University of Pennsylvania (5-2, 2-0 Big 5), 65-34. For the second straight game, La Salle finished with a positive turnover margin at +6.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Penn opened the game on a 13-0 run before La Salle cracked the drought with a 5-2 spurt of its own. The Explorers would end up hitting three, three pointers in the quarter to cut the deficit to 12.
- Penn grew its lead in the second stanza, outscoring La Salle, 16-4.
- The Quakers continued maintained its momentum in the third period, outscoring La Salle, 18-2.
- La Salle started the fourth quarter with a hot hand, taking a 9-2 run over the first 4:58 of the frame. The Explorers played stout defense in the quarter, holding Penn to just six points, holding the Quakers to over a five-minute scoring drought. La Salle would end the frame with a 15-6 advantage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- King finished 4-for-10 from the field, including 3-of-6 from long range.
- Freshman Janay Sanders led the team with seven rebounds.
- Senior Jeryn Reese finished with a career high five steals.
- La Salle had one of its better games shooting from downtown, hitting a season best seven long balls.
