PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team held an early lead before Saint Joseph's put together a strong second half to defeat the Explorers 70-49 on Saturday afternoon at Hagan Arena.
Saint Joseph's outscored the Explorers 41-14 in the second half, and held La Salle scoreless for 9:36 spanning the 3
rd and 4
th quarters. The Hawks scored 19 unanswered during that stretch.
Adreana Miller and
Amy Griffin finished in double figures for La Salle with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Ashanti Freeland grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Sarah Veilleux led all scorers with 19 points for the Hawks while Chelsea Woods added 17 points and nine rebounds. Amanda Fioravanti and Alyssa Monaghan also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
La Salle scored the game's first five points and led by as many as 11 in the 2
nd quarter before taking a 35-29 lead into the half.
