PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball team (8-20, 3-12) couldn't complete the comeback in a 58-51 loss to Davidson (11-17, 6-9) on Wednesday night at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center.
Amy Griffin registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while
Ashanti Freeland narrowly missed with eight points and 10 boards.
Shalina Miller and
Adreana Miller both added 10 points.
The Explorers fell behind by double digits early but battled back in the second half, outscoring Davidson 20-13 in the 3
rd quarter. The Explorers eventually made it a one-point game midway through the 4
th before Davidson scored five unanswered to push their lead to six.
Adreana Miller hit a three to make it a one-possession game with 3:01 remaining but the Explorers didn't score again until there were just six seconds on the clock. Davidson went 6-for-6 from the foul line during La Salle's scoreless stretch to seal the game.
Griffin also stuffed the stat sheet with five assists, three blocks and three steals.
Shalina Miller had seven rebounds as La Salle held a 49-39 advantage on the glass.
Katie Turner poured in 18 points for the Wildcats while Mackenzie Latt tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Explorers conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon at George Mason. Tip from EagleBank Arena is set for 2 p.m.
