PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's basketball team will host its final home game of the season on Wednesday evening, as the Explorers take on Dayton. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and will be broadcast locally on NBC Sports Philadelphia. The game will also air on Spectrum Sports, with
Kale Beers and
Rohan Brown calling the action.
Senior Night ceremonies prior to tipoff will honor four Explorers who will be making their final appearance at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center:
B.J. Johnson,
Johnnie Shuler,
Amar Stukes and
Tony Washington.
There will also be special promotions throughout the evening, with a lucky row receiving tickets to the 2018 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and two fans being selected for a halfcourt shot that, if made, would be worth $5,000.
NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers are looking to build momentum after a 73-60 road win at Fordham on Saturday afternoon.
•La Salle had four players score in double figures against the Rams, led by Johnson's 23 points.
•Stukes finished with 16 points and four assists while Washington and redshirt junior
Pookie Powell chipped in with 14 each.
•The Explorers outrebounded Fordham by a 41-24 margin, and are averaging 17.5 more rebounds than their opponents over their last two games.
•Washington closed with his second double-double of the season (14 pts., 11 rebs.) while Phiri hauled in 10 boards.
•Over his last three games, Washington is averaging 13.7 points and 10 rebounds per outing while shooting 78.3 percent over that stretch.
•Johnson became the 56th player in La Salle history to record 1,000 points for his career against Fordham, doing so in less than two seasons with the Explorers.
•Stukes played in the 123rd game of his collegiate career, tying
Steve Zack (2011-15), Rodney Green (2006-10) and Doug Overton (1987-91) for seventh in the La Salle record book.
•The La Salle College High School product also tied Jermaine Thomas (2002-06) for 14th on the Explorers' career assists list with 362.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
•Dayton stands one game ahead of the Explorers and are tied for eighth in the Atlantic 10 standings with a 7-9 record.
•The Flyers most recently fell to nationally-ranked Rhode Island, 81-56, snapping a two-game winning streak.
•Josh Cunningham (15.7 ppg) and Darrell Davis (15.5 ppg) are the two top scorers for Dayton, who ranks second in the league in field goal percentage offense (.483).
•Cunningham is the top individual in the category, converting 64.9 percent of his field goal attempts.
