STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Ten members of the La Salle University men's track and field team registered top-10 finishes at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday.
Junior
Zakiyy Williams paced the Explorers with a pair of top-5 performances in the field. Williams took a runner-up finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.82 meters and also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.67 meters.
La Salle also had two top-5 finishers in the 60-meter hurdles, as freshman
Dylan Burnett finished second with a time of 8.32 and sophomore
Ache Hall ran in 8.43 for fourth place.
Junior
Nathan Gillis placed fifth in the mile with a time of 4:08.22. Meanwhile, senior
Justin Guerre finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.14, while freshman
Chase Campbell was seventh at 22.45.
Graduate student
Chris Sanders finished the 800 meters in 1:52.30 for seventh place. Fellow graduate student
Fran Ferruzzi was seventh in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:30.59, followed by classmate
Bradley Heuer in eight at 8:31.72.
The Explorers will head back to Staten Island on Friday, Feb. 9, when they compete at the Fastrack National Qualifier Invitational.
