PHILADELPHIA – Three Explorers were victorious as the La Salle University men's track and field team competed at the Temple Owls Invitational over the weekend.
Chase Campbell,
Dylan Burnett and
Zakiyy Williams each claimed victories for the Explorers to lead the way. La Salle finished the meet in third place with 103 points.
Campbell captured the 400-meter dash title with a time of 48.96 and also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.09. Burnett won the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 14.80 while also posting a time of 58.22 for sixth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Meanwhile, Williams led La Salle in the field events by taking the triple jump crown with a leap of 13.89 meters. He registered a jump of 6.42 meters in the long jump as well for fourth place.
La Salle had the top three finishers in the 110 hurdles, as
Ache Hall (14.99) and
Jordan Patterson (16.43) followed Burnett in second and third. Hall finished third in the 400 hurdles as well with a time of 56.31.
In the 800-meter run,
Anthony Hawthorne ran in 1:50.67 for a runner-up finish, while
Chris Sanders was fourth at 1:51.74.
Isaiah Akil finished third in the 400-meter dash at 49.49, and
Myles Penny was eighth at 53.59.
Nathan Gillis placed third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:54.70, while
Luke Jaciw-Zurawkowsky finished fourth at 4:02.15.
Bradley Heuer ran the 5,000 meters in 15:01.03 to take fourth place. In the 100-meter dash,
Justin Guerre was fourth at 10.84, and
Zyaire McKenzie was ninth at 11.28.
La Salle will take part in the Larry Ellis Princeton Invitational next weekend.
