RICHMOND, Va. - Two days after the Explorers' dramatic win over VCU, La Salle couldn't quite carry the momentum against one of the Atlantic 10's top teams this season in Richmond. The Explorers fell into a hole early and couldn't quite climb out of it despite a stronger second half in the 18-11 loss.
Annina Iacobucci led scoring with five goals.
Emily Johnston had three. The Spiders doubled down on defense and held La Salle's leading scorers on the season,
Bridget Ruskey and
Brittany Edwards, to one and zero goals respectively. Edwards did finish with an assist.
La Salle's defense finished with some positives as well. The Explorers held Richmond's Katie Sciandra, the A-10's leading scorer, to just two goals. Both came early.
Courtney Shoults picked up a team-high six ground balls and caused two turnovers.Â
Lynne Frankel (nine saves) and
Molly Loughlin (two) split time in goal.
The Explorers will finish their season on Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's at 11:30 AM.
