ARLINGTON, Va. – Two members of the La Salle University baseball team were recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference on Tuesday. Junior Ben Faso was selected to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team, while classmate Peyton Sorrels earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team.

Faso picked up second team all-conference honors at first base, where he played for the majority of the season. He finished the regular season tied for second in the A-10 in hits with 75, tied for third in doubles with 17, and he was fourth in the league in batting with a team-best .347 average.

It was a historic season for Faso as he wrote his name all over the school record book. Earlier in the year, he recorded the fifth longest hit streak in program history, posting a hit in 16 straight games, a stretch that lasted for over a month. His 75 hits also rank fifth on the program's single season hits list, the most since the 2010 season when Brendan Norton had 80. Faso's 17 doubles also put him in a tie for seventh on the team's single season list in that category as well.

Faso started in every game that he appeared in and led La Salle with career marks in runs (31), RBI (36), total bases (101) and slugging percentage (.468). The Media, Pa., product was also second on the team with nine stolen bases and tied for third in home runs with three, while he registered a .391 on-base percentage and had a hit in 42 games, including 20 multi-hit games. He earned Big 5 Player of the Week twice and was the Philadelphia Baseball Review's Hitter of the Week four times.

Sorrels came on strong during the second half of the season in his first year with the team. Most of his success came against A-10 opponents, as he posted a .308 batting average with seven runs and six extra-base hits in league play. In the classroom, Sorrels earned a 3.6 GPA as a criminal justice major.

Overall, the junior infielder batted .280 and was tied for sixth in the A-10 with four triples on the year. He played in 40 games, making 31 starts, and finished fourth on the team in runs (17) and slugging percentage (.392) to go with ten RBIs and six doubles. Over his final 22 games, Sorrels hit .389 with 11 runs and eight extra-base hits. He was named Big 5 Player of the Week on May 8 after hitting .500 over five road games.
