FAIRFAX, Va. – Junior
Kaleah Miller broke the school record in the triple jump to lead the La Salle University women's track and field team on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday.
One day after sophomore
Jessica Bryant broke Miller's school record in the long jump, Miller shattered Bryant's triple jump record with a leap of 11.88 meters, finishing in fourth place. Bryant also placed seventh in the event with a mark of 11.75 meters.
La Salle posted a third place finish in the 4x800-meter relay, as
Makayla Eberly,
Allana Powlette,
Grace Mancini and
Ifetayo Tyler put together a time of 9:02.23. Tyler placed fifth in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:10.88, while
Ariel Mitchell also finished fifth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 12.26 seconds.
Mitchell,
Amber Jenkins,
Desirae Osley and
Chidinma Matthew teamed up for a seventh place showing in the 4x100-meter relay at 47.15.
Kaitlin Poiesz ran the 5,000 meters in 17:19.17 for eighth place.
Michelle Myland finished the 5,000 meters in 18:02.87 for 25th out of 37 entrants, while
Emily Ward was 29th in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:50.74.
The Explorers finished ninth in the overall standings with 47 points over the two-day meet.
La Salle will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships next, with action starting on Friday.
