Women's Soccer Alum Deja Davis Selected for United States U-23 Women's National Team

Women's Soccer | August 24, 2018

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University women's soccer alum Deja Davis has been announced as one of 23 players scheduled to play for the United States U-23 Women's National Team as it competes at the U-23 Nordic Tournament in Norway. Davis joins 21 other professional players and one collegiate standout for the event that will begin on August 29.

"We are all so proud to hear of Deja's recent call up with the United States Under 23 National Team," La Salle head women's soccer coach Paul Royal said. "It is the first time that our program has had someone involved in one of the more senior level national teams. Deja has always shown us that she's an extraordinary talent, but it's such a proud moment for me to see her getting recognized for her outstanding play and hard work for Le Havre in the French professional league. Her entire La Salle Women's Soccer family will be supporting her in this wonderful opportunity."

Davis played 86 matches over her four-year career at La Salle, helping the Explorers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2013 and 2014. A former Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection, she led the squad with 14 points as a senior in 2016. In the summer of 2017, Davis signed a professional contract with Le Havre Athletic Club and has been a member of that squad since.

This year's version of La Salle women's soccer is off to a 3-0-0 start for the first time since the 2009 season and will look to continue its hot start on Monday, Aug. 27 against Drexel. Kickoff at McCarthy Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
