ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The La Salle University men's water polo team begins its 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Navy Open in Annapolis, Md. The Explorers will play four matches over the two-day event, beginning with a contest against Lindenwood on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Also on the schedule for La Salle is a matchup with Iona on Saturday at 3:15 p.m., then games against George Washington (9:00 a.m.) and Johns Hopkins (3:15 p.m.) on Sunday.
ABOUT LA SALLE
- First-year head coach Tom Hyham is looking to continue the program's upward trajectory after last season.
- The Explorers advanced to the Mid Atlantic Water Polo Conference Tournament in just their second year as a varsity program.
- Second Team All-MAWPC honorees Daniel Domotor and Jeff Brady are among a group of 15 returners from last year, to go along with six newcomers.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
- La Salle went 0-3 against the tournament field a season ago, which included a pair of defeats at the hands of Johns Hopkins.
- The Blue Jays are ranked second in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Preseason Poll that was released recently.
- Navy is receiving votes in the Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Preseason Poll, while Iona is fifth in the Northeast.
