LORETTO, Pa. - The La Salle University field hockey team will begin its Atlantic 10 season as it travels to central Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis U. on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Two days later, the Explorers will return home to face Georgetown in a non-conference affair that is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
ABOUT LA SALLE
- The Explorers are coming off two tough losses in Virginia this past weekend, dropping a pair of overtime decisions.
- On Friday, La Salle overcame a three-goal, second-half deficit to force overtime against UC Davis, but ultimately fell, 4-3.
- Seniors Logan Oh and Megan Kida, as well as freshman Willow Oh found the back of the cage against the Aggies.
- Squaring off against Longwood on Sunday, the Explorers once again went to extra time but were edged, 2-1, after the Lancers scored just 17 seconds into overtime.
- Longwood most recently knocked off No. 20 Liberty and stand at 4-1 on the year.
- Sophomore Rialee Allen paces La Salle with four goals and nine points on the season.
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS U.
- The Red Flash enter the game with a 2-4 record, having lost their most recent game against Indiana.
- La Salle and Saint Francis have one common opponent - Central Michigan. The Explorers defeated the Chippewas twice on consecutive days (Sept. 2-3), while SFU defeated CMU, 4-3, on Sept. 7.
- Saint Francis U. went 8-9 last year and 4-4 in Atlantic 10 play.
- This season, Brianna Govia paces SFU with three goals while Brea Seabrook leads the team with 33 shots.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
- Under the direction of first-year head coach Christy Longacre, the Hoyas are off to a 5-0 start and will open BIG EAST play against Villanova on Friday ahead of the game with the Explorers.
- Lindsay Getz scored twice in a 7-0 victory over LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 7. The result was the fourth shutout this season for Georgetown.
- Cami Osborne leads the team with four goals despite having played in just three matches thus far this season.
