PHILADELPHIA – After finishing non-conference play 5-1-1, the La Salle University women's soccer team aims to defend its A-10 Conference Title as conference play starts Thursday at Davidson (2-5). Game time is slated for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Last season, the Explorers posted a 9-0-1 conference record, with their last A-10 loss dating back to the end of the 2016 season when they fell to Duquesne on October 30.
LAST TIME OUT – W, 2-1 over Fairleigh Dickinson
- Early into the first half sophomore Molly O'Brien took a feed from junior Jess Shanahan that she was able to get past the Knights' keeper to take the lead, 1-0.
- Later in the half during the 24th minute, O'Brien popped the ball over a defender for redshirt-senior Madison Bower. Bower took the ball and smashed it past the keeper in the upper left corner to give the Explorers a 2-0 advantage.
- In the second half, the Knights drew a penalty kick during the 76th minute that found the back of the net.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- The Wildcats enter Thursday's game at 2-5 on the season, riding a four-game losing streak. Most recently, Davidson fell to UNCG, 2-1 on September 7.
- Due to Hurricane Florence, the Wildcats had games against Elon (9/14) and Western Carolina (9/16) cancelled.
- The team's wins came in games two and three of the year when the Wildcats beat USC-Upstate, 3-2, in overtime and Gardner-Webb, 2-0.
- Collectively, Davidson has scored seven goals on the 2018 campaign, seeing eight different players register a point. Paving the way for the Wildcats is Alexis Pheng with two goals and four points.
- In net, the Wildcats have used two different keepers in Sarah L'Hommedieu and Mary Grace Bunch, with L'Hommedieu making the last four starts. On the season, L'Hommedieu boasts a 2.00 goals against average and a .680 save percentage.
