Men's Water Polo Concludes Play at Navy Open

Defusco

Men's Water Polo | September 2, 2018

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The La Salle University men's water polo team suffered a pair of losses at the Navy Open on Sunday. The Explorers fell to #18 George Washington, 22-3, before falling to Johns Hopkins by a 21-4 margin.

"This tournament was very valuable to us as an extension of our training camp," head coach Tom Hyham said. "I'm happy we had the opportunity to play George Washington this weekend because we learned a lot from playing a top 20 team in the nation."

Freshman Esteban Rodriguez scored the first goal of his collegiate career against the Colonials, while junior Joey Defusco and sophomore Karl Miller also found the back of the net.

The second game of the day saw the Explorers square off against the No. 2-ranked team in Division III. Miller, Defusco, and sophomores Daniel Domotor and Ash Lyne tallied goals in the loss.

La Salle returns to action on Sept. 8-9 at the Mercyhurst University Laker Invitational in Erie, Pa.
