Men's Water Polo | September 21, 2018

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's water polo team will square off against two of the top teams in the MAWPC on Saturday at Kirk Pool. The Explorers play host to nationally-ranked, No. 18 George Washington at 12:00 p.m., before concluding the day with a matchup against Navy at 5:00 p.m.

ABOUT LA SALLE

• The Explorers took home their second win of the year last weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, defeating Mercyhurst by an 11-8 margin.
• Sophomore Ash Lyne was named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week for his efforts in Lewisburg, scoring four goals and registering two steals in the victory.
• Classmate Cole Strohson had two goals and six exclusions drawn, while another sophomore, Cameron Schiable, tallied 10 saves.
• Strohson paces La Salle with 19 goals, 18 steals and 28 drawn exclusions.
• The two contests are rematches of earlier-season tilts, in which the Explorers went 0-2. 

SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON

• The Colonials enter with an 8-3 record, having split four matches out west at the Aggie Roundup in California.
• GW dropped a tough 12-11, overtime decision to No. 17 San Jose State in the final game of the event.
• Senior goalkeeper Austin Pyrch has earned two straight MAWPC Defensive Player of the Week awards for his play in net. 

SCOUTING NAVY

• The Midshipmen are 6-4 this season and 0-1 in conference play. 
• Last weekend, Navy went 3-1 at the Bucknell Bison Invitational.
• Freshman Isaac Salinas scored two goals and had four assists on the final day of the event.
