Men's Water Polo | September 27, 2018

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The La Salle University men's water polo team will face three different opponents for the second time this season when it hits the road this weekend. The Explorers travel to Annapolis, Md., to take on Navy on Friday, Sept. 28, before squaring off with No. 20 George Washington and Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle opened its home schedule this past weekend at Kirk Pool, falling to nationally-ranked GW and Navy.
  • The Explorers gave the Midshipmen all they could handle, pulling to within two at 11-9 following a goal by junior Joey DeFusco.
  • Unfortunately, sophomore Cole Strohson fouled out shortly after the tally and Navy pulled away to win by a 15-10 margin.
  • La Salle is led by Strohson and sophomore Daniel Domotor, who each have 24 goals on the year.
  • The Explorers have dropped both matches against Navy this season, with the first coming at the season-opening Navy Open.
  • George Washington and Johns Hopkins have a combined 3-0 record against La Salle this season.
SCOUTING NAVY
  • The Midshipmen are 8-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play after two wins over La Salle and Fordham last weekend.
  • Isaac Salinas had three goals and an assist in the win over the Rams.
  • Bobby Lee has a team-high 30 goals on the year, while Salinas has 17 assists and 39 points, both team bests.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
  • The Colonials enter the weekend with a 10-4 record and are also 2-1 in league competition, with the lone loss coming to Wagner.
  • Andrew Mavis is the top scoring threat for GW, having scored 31 goals over 14 matches this year.
  • Atakan Destici has accumulated a team-best 52 points (29 g, 23 a).
SCOUTING JOHNS HOPKINS
  • The Blue Jays have had a 20-day layoff since their last tournament in California, which saw the team take on top teams Santa Clara and Stanford.
  • JHU has posted a 3-3 record through six games, including a 20-12 win over Iona and a one-goal victory against Fordham.
  • Freshman Jayden Kunwar scored a school-record 10 goals in the triumph against the Gaels and has 19 on the year.
