PITTSBURGH – Despite career nights from sophomores
Molly O'Brien and
Claudia Jenkins, the La Salle University women's soccer team (6-3-1) fell to Duquesne (5-4-1), 3-2, in overtime Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Explorers found the back of the net first as O'Brien nailed a one timer off of passes from redshirt-senior Madison Bower and sophomore Amirah Louketis.
- During the second half, redshirt-senior Clarissa Kirsch-Downs took a feed from O'Brien that made its way past the keeper to put the Explorers up, 2-0.
- The Dukes responded with two unanswered goals to send the game to overtime.
- Sixteen seconds into overtime, the Dukes scored the game winner.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- O'Brien has now registered at least one point in each of the last four games. In total, the Media, Pa. native has scored nine points over that span. Against the Dukes, she also tied a career high with three points.
- In net, Jenkins tied a career high with nine saves, allowing three goals.

La Salle returns to Philadelphia for another conference matchup, this time against Massachusetts. Sunday's match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
