KINGSTON, R.I. – The La Salle University volleyball team (8-7, 1-1 A-10) is traveling again this weekend for a pair of Atlantic 10 matches. The Explorers will first contest Rhode Island (6-7, 0-1 A-10) on Friday, Sep. 28 at 7:00 p.m. before heading to the Bronx to face off against Fordham (8-6, 1-0 A-10) on Sunday, Sep. 30 at 1:00 p.m. The event against the Rams will be broadcast live on ESPN+ (subscription required).
ABOUT LA SALLE
- Senior libero Jensen Sharrits was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
- Sharrits remains at the top of the conference in digs per set (5.72) and digs (309).
- Junior Kathryn Wood ranks first in the league in assists per set (11.30).
- The Explorers topped Davidson 3-0 last week, registering their first Atlantic 10 sweep in 13 years.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
- The Rams dropped their A-10 opener to Fordham last week, 3-2.
- Senior Olivia Budinich had a team-high of 16 digs in the matchup against Fordham and leads Rhode Island in the category with 190 on the year.
- Senior Lauren Pick is ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 in assists per set (8.88).
SCOUTING FORDHAM
- Junior Elise Benjamin was named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Co-Defensive Player of the Week alongside La Salle's Jensen Sharrits.
- Benjamin ranks second in the league in blocks per set (1.36).
- The Rams defeated Rhode Island 3-2 last week to open conference play with a 1-0 record.
