BALTIMORE, Md. - The La Salle University men's water polo team took on three Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference teams over the weekend, suffering three defeats against top competition. The Explorers dropped contests against Navy, No. 20 George Washington and Johns Hopkins.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Facing a team it pushed to the wire last weekend at Kirk Pool, La Salle got off to a slow start against the Naval Academy, falling behind 6-1 through the first quarter and 9-2 at halftime.
- The Midshipmen went on a 10-1 run over the final half to pick up their third win of the year over the Explorers, 19-3.
- Against nationally-ranked GW, the Colonials took control with a 12-2 spurt to start the game.
- The second half saw La Salle score seven times, with sophomore Daniel Domotor tallying three goals.
- Freshman Esteban Rodriguez also had a pair of goals for the Explorers, who dropped a 23-9 decision.
- The third and final matchup of the weekend saw Domotor find the back of the net five times, including four in the third quarter.
- Sophomore Ash Lyne scored three times, all coming in the second, but it was not enough as Johns Hopkins came away with a 24-15 win.
